Files & Disk Data Recovery is the process used to access digital information which is not available through the normal operation of the storage device, and is one of the Data Recover Center core areas.

Data Recover Center has the only Portuguese laboratory specialised in the recovery of computing data. The activities of the specialised lab include data recovery from damaged magnetic media (e.g. hard disks, pen drives, memory cards, tapes, etc.), and those activities are monitored by highly qualified and specialized professionals who have vast experience in this area.

High success data recovery rate

Data Recover Center technicians carry out a series of specific tests for each drive, for each manufacturer and for each symptom presented by the storage device, in order to accurately determine the type of problem and the appropriate method to access the inaccessible data. It should be noted that, provided unqualified technicians have not inadequately handled the device, success rates reach approximately 90% (hard disks). Recovery attempts carried out by users or unqualified technicians are a decisive factor in reducing success rates.

Data Recover Center provides data recovery services in the fastest and most efficient manner, handling any kind of device or operating system, including server systems. After receiving the device, within a maximum period of 2 hours, a free diagnosis of your device is carried out, and 3 service options are presented, responding to the needs of a wide range of clients and situations. However, we can meet urgent demands from clients, being able to work 24 hours a day when required:

Normal Recovery of Data: Estimate 8-12 working days
Priority Recovery of Data: Estimate 4-7 working days
Urgent Recovery of Data: Estimate 1-3 working days

We are prepared to handle your individual case

Device failures and problems occur for several reasons and have varied results. To deal with these, the development unit is able to create new data recovery processes for specific devices.

Some of the most common problems are: unintentional formatting, deleted partitions, system deadlocks, mechanical failures, voltage peaks, damages to the reading plates’ surface, recovery of hard disks for subsequent usage, impact from dropping, fire and many others.

Steps of data recovery process

The process of data recovery is carried out in accordance with the following steps:

The client contacts the Data Recover Center and Customer Care provides all necessary information and instructions to be followed in order to send us the device.
Device reception and diagnosis:
- Customer data is verified.
- A personal task number is assigned.
- The diagnosis phase begins.
- Within a maximum period of 2 hours after reception, a diagnosis and estimate for data recovery is sent to the customer.
- Together with the diagnosis and estimate, the service contract is sent, guaranteeing complete data confidentiality.(See non disclosure agreement)

Files & Disk Data Recovery process:
The device proceeds to the laboratory for the data recovery procedure, where the whole gamut of tests and processes required for accessing all the information contained in the drive will be performed. Subsequently, a list of all recoverable files will be sent to the customer for confirmation that all files for recovery are present.
Information Delivery:
After the data recovery process is concluded and confirmation is received from the customer, the final phase is reached, where the data is written onto another media: hard disk, CD or DVD, as preferred by the customer
Confirmation Period for Recovered Data:
After information delivery, the device will be kept on the Data Recover Center premises until Customer confirmation that all existing data from the damaged device is in his/her possession. A backup of the recovered information will be kept in an archive for a period of 15 days after delivery.This process is carried out by Data Recover Center due to security reasons. Should it be necessary to access the damaged device again, the process will be performed faster and more efficiently, saving the client time.

NOTE: In case of handled (previously opened) disks, a fare for the diagnosis will be charged.
